BPCA takes home the trophy at the Mahinur Jahid Memorial Soccer Match

BPCA takes home the championship title at the Mahinur Jahid Memorial Soccer Match. Soccer fans of the Bangladeshi community in Alberta enjoyed the championship match which was held in the scenic Town of Devon on August 16, 2014. The town was warmed up with the cheerful Bangladesh Children Festival initiated by the Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) and sponsored by the Mahinur Jahid Memorial Foundation (MJMF).

MJMF is a non-proftit organization founded in 2012 in memory of Mahinur Jahid, who died in a car accident in the city of Lloydminster of Alberta at the age of 27. The organization is supporting Bangladeshi and Canadian youth by providing access to education, and organizing cultural and sports activities.

The visitors of the Children Festival enjoyed a wonderful day together with their families and friends, and witnessed two motivated teams, each one eager to win the championship and bring home the much sought-after trophy. The Bangladesh PressClub Centre of Alberta (BPCA) won the tournament by 4-2 goals against the runners-up team BHESA (Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta). The soccer team of BPCA was headed by Tanvir Hasan, and the team of BHESA was led by Ahsan Ullah. Bishwajit of BPCA became »Man of the Match« and the highest goal giver was Taif of BPCA.

Tanvir Hasan, Taif, Tomal Islam, Sanjiba Chowdhury, Biswajit and others.

for BHESA:
Ahsan Ullah, Haroon Sharif, Ghulam Sarwar, Kausar Khanduker, Syfur Hasan, Anam Rahman and others.

Eminent Journalist Delwar Jahid, President of the Bangladesh Heritage and Ethnic Society of Alberta (BHESA) presided over the trophy distribution ceremony, and addressed the players while Dr. Hafizur Rahman of the University of Alberta distributed the trophies among the winners and participating players.
